BlackRock Names New Taiwan Head

has appointed one of its senior figures in Asia, Tiffany Hsieh, as head of Taiwan. A citizen of the jurisdiction, she has worked for the US asset management titan for almost 14 years. Her predecessor, Amy Yen, left BlackRock in October 2022 for personal reasons, a spokesperson told this news service. BlackRock remains the world’s largest asset manager but, like its peers, has suffered a sharp fall in total assets under management. AuM stood at $8.594 trillion at the end of December 2022, down from $10.01 trillion a year before.
Hsieh was most recently responsible for BlackRock’s cross-border and onshore distribution business in China. She started her tenure with the firm in 2009 as head of iShares for Taiwan. Prior to BlackRock, Hsieh was responsible for sales and distribution of structured products and derivatives at Credit Agricole and product development at Fubon Securities in Taiwan.
“Appointing leaders who possess both global perspectives and local market expertise is critical to servicing our clients,” Susan Chan, BlackRock’s deputy head of Asia-Pacific and head of Greater China, said.
In early January, BlackRock appointed James Raby as APAC head of wealth to channel his knowledge and expertise into serving clients. Raby, who most recently served as APAC chief financial officer, is based in Hong Kong, where he oversees finance, corporate strategy and corporate development initiatives across the region.
